Suspect Named in Southport Stabbing

A judge has lifted the reporting restrictions on the suspect charged with the murder of three children in Southport on Monday.

Seventeen-year-old Axel Muganwa Rudakubana has been charged with three counts of murder, ten counts of attempted murder, and possession of a weapon after appearing at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court, where he was remanded into youth custody.

Reports state that Rudakubana’s parents moved from Rwanda to England in 2002. The family relocated to Southport in 2013 from Cardiff, Wales. His father, Alphonse, teaches karate in Stockport and holds the highest accolade in the grading field, the Dan black belt. His mother, Mazayire, has worked as a healthcare assistant (HCA) and is a homemaker.

The brutal attack occurred during a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in Southport, leaving the local community in shock and mourning. Two children who were injured in the attack have been discharged from the hospital, while the condition of other victims continues to be monitored.

The lifting of reporting restrictions has allowed the public to gain more insight into the background of the suspect, as the community grapples with the aftermath of the tragic event. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are continuing to gather evidence to ensure justice is served.
