Tragedy on the A27: Man in 60s Killed in Serious Crash

A man in his 60s from Emsworth has died following a serious single-vehicle crash on the A27 this morning. The fatal collision happened near the Hilsea junction, forcing the closure of the motorway at the busy M27/A27 interchange.

Emergency Services Rush to Scene

Emergency crews arrived shortly after 10:30 a.m., but sadly, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.

Police Appeal for Witnesses and Footage

Police have launched an urgent appeal for anyone who saw the crash or has dashcam or mobile footage to come forward. A force spokesperson said:

“We are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has any dashcam or mobile phone footage to contact us. Please call 101 and quote incident number 0588 of today’s date. You can also report information via the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary website.”

Major Disruption as Road Remains Closed

The motorway remains closed from Junction 12 eastbound to the Eastern Road turnoff, impacting traffic flows on the M275 into the city. Drivers are being diverted off the A27 westbound at the Hilsea turnoff, with restricted access from the Portsbridge/Hilsea roundabout to the A27 eastbound.

Motorists are urged to avoid the area and find alternative routes while police continue their investigation.
