Top Chef Mussie Imnetu Brutally Attacked Near Notting Hill Carnival
Renowned chef Mussie Imnetu, 41, is fighting for his life after a savage attack near Notting Hill Carnival on Monday night. The culinary star, who trained under giants like Alain Ducasse, Gordon Ramsay, and Marcus Wareing, was found unconscious with a serious head injury on Queensway, W2, at about 11:22 pm.
From London to Dubai: Chef Mussie’s Stellar Career
Born in Eritrea and raised in Sweden, Mussie has carved out an impressive career in top kitchens across London and New York. He’s worked at The Savoy Grill, Oblix in The Shard, and The Arts Club Dubai, where he was Head Chef at The Brasserie. Most recently, Mussie served as Senior Sous Chef at The London Club, helping lead its 2011 reopening.
Off-duty, Mussie is a big football fan and loves teaching his son the tricks of the cooking trade.
Police Launch Manhunt, Arrest Suspect Over Attack
The Metropolitan Police have named Mussie and are urgently appealing for witnesses to help fill in the gaps of his movements on the day. He left The Arts Club on Dover Street just after 1pm wearing a blue t-shirt and black jeans. He was last seen alone at Dr Power restaurant in Queensway around 10:30pm – shortly before the brutal assault.
Detectives from the Specialist Crime Command have arrested a 31-year-old man in Newham on suspicion of attempted murder. He remains in custody at a south London police station as the investigation intensifies.
Police Plea: Did You See or Film the Attack?
“While arresting a suspect is a big step, we urgently need information about Mussie’s whereabouts between 1pm and 10:30pm,” said Detective Chief Inspector Brian Howie. “If you were in or around Dr Power restaurant between 10pm and 11:30pm Monday and saw anything — or spoke to Mussie — please step forward.”
“Customers tried to stop the attack – we want to speak to these people. Any images or videos could be crucial. Please get in touch.”
The police have released photos of Mussie taken on the day of the attack to jog memories and encourage witnesses to come forward.
