Freshwater Lifeboat Station Secures Future with 50-Year Lease
The Freshwater Independent Lifeboat station has just bagged a massive win. On Sunday, 22 April 2018, trustees signed a new lease locking in their home for the next 50 years. This deal is a major milestone in their bold five-year plan to upgrade the station’s slipway and fix the relentless shingle build-up.
£1.5 Million Plans Get Green Light
The ambitious revamp is set to cost around £1.5 million. With the new lease, donors can give with confidence, knowing the lifeboat station isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. “This lease guarantees we’re here to stay in the bay for at least half a century,” said Richard Barton-Wood, Trainee Coxswain, Treasurer, and Trustee, who led the negotiations.
Experts Help Seal the Deal
Richard gave a shoutout to the pros who made it happen: “I’d like to thank Matthew Barrow, Partner at Lester Aldridge Solicitors, and Martin Hastelow, Head of Office at Savills, both in Southampton, for their invaluable help and expertise.”
With solid backing and a secure future, Freshwater’s lifesavers are ready to keep saving lives for decades to come.
