East Finchley was the scene of two major incidents within 20 minutes of each other last night (Thursday, September 12), with one man dying in a crash and another injured in a stabbing. Police have confirmed that the two events are not believed to be linked.
The first incident occurred at 7:42 pm on Colney Hatch Lane, where a man in his 80s was found unresponsive after his car collided with advertising hoardings near Powerleague Barnet. Despite police officers administering CPR before paramedics arrived, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The Metropolitan Police have launched an investigation to determine whether any other vehicles were involved in the fatal collision.
Just 20 minutes later, at 8:02 pm, emergency services were alerted to a stabbing on King Street, about 1.3 miles from the crash site. A 30-year-old man was found with stab wounds, having been attacked on nearby Church Lane. He was taken to the hospital, where his condition was assessed as not life-threatening.
No arrests have been made in connection with the stabbing, and the crime scene remains in place outside King Street Food & Wine shop. A Scotland Yard spokesperson confirmed that enquiries are ongoing for both incidents.
Anyone with information about the stabbing or the crash is encouraged to contact the police.
Both incidents have caused shockwaves through the local community as investigations continue
