East Finchley rocked by fatal crash and stabbing within 20 minutes

East Finchley witnessed chaos last night as two major incidents unfolded less than half an hour apart. An elderly man died in a car crash, while just 20 minutes later, a 30-year-old man was stabbed and rushed to hospital. Police have confirmed the two events are not linked.

Man in his 80s killed in horror crash on Colney Hatch Lane

At 7:42 pm, emergency crews responded to a crash near Powerleague Barnet on Colney Hatch Lane. A man in his 80s was found unresponsive after his car smashed into advertising hoardings. Despite officers performing CPR and paramedics rushing to the scene, he was pronounced dead.

The Met Police have launched a full investigation, probing whether any other vehicles were involved in the fatal collision.

Stabbing shock just 20 minutes later on King Street

At 8:02 pm, just over a mile away, police were called to a stabbing on King Street, near Church Lane. A 30-year-old man suffered stab wounds in the attack and was taken to hospital. Thankfully, his injuries are not life-threatening.

No arrests have been made so far, but a crime scene remains taped off outside the King Street Food & Wine shop. Scotland Yard confirmed inquiries are ongoing for both incidents.

Local community left shaken as police investigations continue

Both incidents have sent shockwaves through East Finchley. Authorities urge anyone with information about the crash or stabbing to come forward and assist with the enquiries.

These violent events highlight concerns over local safety amid an otherwise quiet neighbourhood.
