Radio star and Heart Breakfast host Jamie Theakston has shocked fans by announcing he has Stage 1 laryngeal cancer. Theakston broke the news on Instagram after a routine operation to remove a lesion from his vocal cords revealed the diagnosis.
Positive Outlook Amid Tough News
Jamie shared a hopeful message with his followers: “So…I have cancer…but cancer doesn’t have me! The prognosis is very positive and I hope to be back with you in October.”
He will be resting his voice for now, with co-hosts JK and Amanda Holden stepping up during his recovery. Jamie thanked his team and the Global Radio family for their unwavering support, calling them “unbelievably supportive.”

Amanda Holden took to Instagram, posting a photo with Jamie and writing, “Our wonderful @jamie.theakston has been diagnosed with stage 1 laryngeal cancer. His prognosis is very good and he has an incredible team around him. Jamie, we love and miss you and look forward to seeing you very soon.”
