A woman has tragically died after being rescued from a house fire in Carshalton. The incident took place yesterday morning (September 19) on Pipewell Road, where four fire engines and around 25 firefighters responded to the scene just before 10:50 am.

The fire, which damaged half of the ground floor of an end-terraced house, required firefighters to enter the building wearing breathing apparatus. They managed to rescue the woman from the flames, and she was immediately rushed to the hospital by London Ambulance Service crews. However, her condition was initially unknown.

Today (September 20), the London Fire Brigade confirmed the devastating news that the woman has since died in the hospital.

The firefighting operation was concluded shortly after 11:20 am. Crews from Mitcham, Sutton, Wimbledon, and Twickenham fire stations attended to battle the blaze.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by both the London Fire Brigade and the Metropolitan Police Service.
