Tragic Death on A2 After Deadly Crash
A 29-year-old man has died following a horrific crash on the A2 early today (September 26). His black VW Tiguan smashed into the central barrier near Rochester at around 2:30am. The car then hit a bridge parapet, leaving emergency crews battling to save him.
Crash Details: Midnight Horror Near Rochester
The smash happened between M2 Junction 1 (Rochester) and the A227 Gravesend. The driver was heading coastbound close to the slip road for the A289 towards Wainscott when tragedy struck. Despite rapid response from Kent Police and South East Coast Ambulance Service, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Road Closures Spark Morning Delays
Emergency crews closed the A2 for hours, causing major delays on the M2 heading towards London. The road has now reopened in both directions, with traffic returning to normal.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
A Kent Police spokesperson said: “We are continuing our investigation and encourage anyone who saw the incident or has dashcam footage to come forward.”
