A three-week-old baby has tragically died in a car crash that took place in the early hours of this morning on the A451 between Kidderminster and Stourport. Police have arrested a 39-year-old man on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
The collision, which occurred around 12:09 am, involved a black Ford Focus and a black Suzuki Vitara. The baby, who was a passenger in the Suzuki, was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other occupants of the Suzuki, a man and a woman in their 20s, sustained injuries and were transported to the hospital, though their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. The driver of the Ford Focus was not injured.
Wyre Forest Police have confirmed that the arrested man is currently in custody as the investigation continues. Inspector Steph Arrowsmith expressed condolences to the family, stating, “A young baby boy has tragically died, and our thoughts are very much with the baby’s parents and wider family at this incredibly distressing time.”
Police are appealing for witnesses and have asked anyone who was on the A451 near the time of the collision, or who may have dashcam footage, to come forward. Anyone with information is urged to contact police as they work to determine the circumstances leading to this tragic event.
