A man in his 40s has tragically died after a tree fell onto his van while he was driving on the A59 dual carriageway in Longton, Lancashire, this morning.
Emergency services were called to the scene at around 9 a.m. following reports of the incident. The man, who was driving a Citroen van, suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Lancashire Police confirmed that his next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

Very sadly, this incident has resulted in the death of a man, and our thoughts are with his loved ones at this time.
