Man from Southport Sentenced to 21 Years for Rape Offences

A Southport man has been sentenced to 21 years in prison for a series of brutal sexual attacks on three women spanning 15 years, Liverpool Crown Court heard today.

Paul Wilson, 44, from Southbank Road, was found guilty after denying four counts of rape, two counts of attempted rape, and assault. The conviction follows a complex and extensive investigation by local law enforcement.

The court revealed that Wilson committed the crimes against three women, all in their 40s, at different locations in Southport between 2003 and 2018. Despite Wilson’s attempts to dispute the charges, prosecutors successfully presented evidence proving his guilt.

Detective Inspector Gavin Mulcahy condemned Wilson’s actions, describing him as a “dangerous predator” who targeted vulnerable victims. He emphasized the importance of the victims’ bravery in coming forward and seeing the case through to trial.

“Today’s result demonstrates our unwavering commitment to addressing violence against women and girls,” DI Mulcahy stated. He also urged other potential victims of sexual offenses to come forward, assuring them of comprehensive support from specially trained officers and Sexual Violence Advocates.
