Southport Man Locked Up After Viral Violence Rampage

Brian Spencer, 40, from Southport, has been sentenced to 2 years and 6 months behind bars after taking centre stage in chaotic scenes of violent disorder caught on viral footage.

Brutal Mayhem on Southport Streets

On July 30, Spencer rampaged through Southport, clashing with police in a shocking display. Videos show him punching a police vehicle and hurling wheelie bins and bricks at officers. The violence turned brutal, with Spencer even suffering injuries amid the fracas.

Detectives sifted through endless CCTV and mobile footage to pinpoint Spencer as a key ring-leader in the madness.

Racial Abuse at Southport Hospital

The next day, while getting treated for his head injury at Southport Hospital, Spencer spewed racial abuse at another patient. This vile outburst earned him an additional guilty plea for racially aggravated harassment.

Police Crackdown and Outrage

“The actions of the people who took part in the disorder were extremely serious, and many officers were injured during the despicable scenes as bricks, bins, and other missiles were thrown at them. Spencer was involved in the violence and will now spend a significant amount of time in prison,” said Detective Inspector Paula Jones.

Merseyside Police have arrested 163 suspects linked to the violence. So far, 117 have been charged, and 88 already serve a staggering combined sentence of over 182 years.

Call for Witnesses

Police are still combing through footage and urge anyone with information to speak up. Call Merseyside Police on 101 or report anonymously to Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.
