Police Appeal for Witnesses After Moped Rider Threatens Driver in Folkestone

Police are calling on witnesses to come forward after an alarming incident in Folkestone where a moped rider allegedly made threats and damaged a car with a knife.

The confrontation unfolded around 2:55 PM on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, when the victims, a man and a woman traveling in a black car, spotted a moped traveling the wrong way on Radnor Park Road—an already concerning sight that quickly escalated.

As the victims continued onto Shorncliffe Road, near the junction with Castle Hill Avenue, the moped rider reportedly approached them, issued threats, and used a knife to damage their vehicle. Thankfully, the pair managed to drive away unharmed, promptly reporting the incident to Kent Police.

In an encouraging development, an 18-year-old man from London was arrested two days later, on December 19, in connection with the incident. However, he has since been released on bail as investigations continue.
