Firefighters in Southampton tackled a significant blaze at a flat on Woods Close on Tuesday evening, responding promptly to an alert from the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service (HIWFRS) Control Room shortly after 7:30 pm.
Response and Operations
Crews from Hightown and St Mary’s fire stations arrived at the scene, where they found the fire on the second floor of the property. Equipped with breathing apparatus, firefighters worked tirelessly to combat the blaze, deploying an aerial platform and water jets.
Once the fire was under control, high-powered ventilation fans were used to clear the thick smoke from the building.
Casualties and Medical Assistance
Three individuals were treated for smoke inhalation by paramedics from South Central Ambulance Service. No further injuries were reported.
Resolution and Investigation
The stop message was issued at 10:20 pm, marking the end of firefighting operations, and crews returned to their respective stations.
The cause of the fire remains unknown and is under investigation by authorities.
