Tragic biker crash claims life of beloved dad and war veteran

The family of Rob Love, 62, have paid a moving tribute after the seasoned motorcyclist died in a smash on the A350 at West Ashton.

Fatal Collision at West Ashton Crossroads

The tragedy struck around 9:10pm on December 17 when Rob’s Yamaha YP 400 collided with a Volkswagen Taigo at the busy West Ashton crossroads.

Remembering Rob: Husband, Father, Grandad

Rob’s family described him as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, mourning a “loving brother, son, cousin, uncle, and grandson” who left a hole in their hearts.

“I wouldn’t want anybody to go through what we’ve been through as a family,” they said.

Born to military parents in England and raised in Edinburgh, Rob served 13 years with the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards, including active duty in the 1990 Gulf War.

He met his wife Sue in Warminster in 1987 and they enjoyed 37 years of marriage, raising their son Stuart and stepchildren Antony and Richard in Westbury.

Passions, Pals and Community Spirit

Rob was more than just a biker. He loved walking his dogs — Sam, Bruce, and Ralphy — and was a cherished neighbour, especially during lockdowns when he helped form the ‘Back Lane Gang’.

A keen scooter rider, he was a familiar face at local bike events with the Maxi Muppets crew.

The family’s heartfelt tribute summed it up:

“Rob will be dearly missed by Sue, the boys, his grandchildren, sister, nephew, extended family, and friends. ‘You will forever be my always.’”

The community continues to grieve the loss of a kind, loyal family man devoted to life and those he loved.
