Three Men Arrested for Trailer Thefts in Lockerbie and Cumbernauld

Three men have been arrested following a police investigation into a series of thefts involving commercial vehicles and trailers in Lockerbie and Cumbernauld. The offences occurred between April and July 2024, targeting high-value vehicles.

The Thefts

  • On 15 April 2024, a HGV tractor unit was stolen from Cumbernauld.
  • Between 6 and 7 July 2024, a trailer was taken from Lockerbie.
  • Another theft occurred on 24 July 2024 in Lockerbie, where another trailer was stolen.

Arrests

Following extensive inquiries, officers from Police Scotland traveled to Leeds on Saturday, 11 January 2025, where they arrested and charged three men, aged 25, 40, and 48, in connection with the thefts. The suspects were subsequently released and are scheduled to appear in court at a later date. A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
