Three Men Nabbed Over High-Value Vehicle Thefts in Lockerbie and Cumbernauld
Series of Theft Strikes Commercial Vehicles
Three men have been arrested after a police probe into a string of daring thefts targeting commercial vehicles and trailers in Lockerbie and Cumbernauld. The offences happened between April and July 2024, hitting expensive HGVs and trailers.
- 15 April 2024: A HGV tractor unit stolen from Cumbernauld.
- 6-7 July 2024: A trailer snatched from Lockerbie.
- 24 July 2024: Another trailer stolen in Lockerbie.
Arrests Made After Police Hunt
After extensive enquiries, Police Scotland swooped in Leeds on Saturday, 11 January 2025, arresting and charging three men aged 25, 40, and 48. All three were linked to the series of high-value vehicle thefts. They were released on bail and are set to face court soon. A full report has been sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

Detective Inspector Scott Wilson said: “This investigation highlights our commitment to tackling crime across the region. Anyone thinking of travelling to Scotland to commit crime will be actively pursued.”
