Eight men jailed for nearly 58 years over horrific abuse of two young girls in West Yorkshire

Brutal Child Sex Crimes Uncovered After Years

Eight men have been locked up for a combined 58 years for sexually abusing two girls aged between 13 and 16 in Keighley, West Yorkshire, during the late 1990s. The vile offences, dating from 1996 to 1999, came to light only after the victims bravely stepped forward to report the abuse.

Long Sentences Handed Down at Bradford Crown Court

The men were convicted in two separate trials held over the past two years at Bradford Crown Court. Here’s the sentence breakdown:

First Trial — October 2023

  • Amreaz Asghar (47, Keighley): 4.5 years for rape.
  • Perwaz Asghar (50, Nottingham): 6.5 years for two counts of indecent assault.
  • Mohammed Din (47, Keighley): 14 years for 11 counts of rape.
  • Sajid Mahmood Khan (45, Keighley): 3 years for rape.
  • Zehroon Razak (47, Keighley): 6.5 years for rape.

Second Trial — December 2024

  • Fayaz Ahmed (45, Bingley): 7.5 years for two counts of rape. Sentenced in absence; police issued a bench warrant.
  • Imtiaz Ahmed (61, Keighley): 9 years for rape. Sentenced in absence; bench warrant issued.
  • Ibrar Hussain (47, Keighley): 6.5 years for two counts of rape.
  • A 47-year-old man found unfit for trial was ruled to have committed rape; sentencing pending.

Victims’ Courage Spotlighted by Police

The ordeal was uncovered after one victim came forward, sparking an investigation by Bradford District’s Non-Recent Child Sexual Exploitation Team. Detectives later identified a second victim. The horrific crimes mainly targeted one girl, with Mohammed Din convicted for offences against both victims.

“The abuse both girls endured robbed them of their childhood. I hope these sentences bring them justice and some closure,” said Detective Chief Inspector Vicky Greenbank.

Crown Prosecution Service Condemns ‘Vile’ Attacks

“These men deliberately preyed on vulnerable young girls, exploiting their dependency on drugs and alcohol for their own disgusting gratification. Their actions were vile and horrific. The courage of the victims has been truly remarkable,” said Michael Quinn, CPS prosecutor.

Police Hunt Two Fugitives

Police remain on the lookout for Imtiaz Ahmed and Fayaz Ahmed, who failed to appear in court. Bench warrants are active as officers continue their efforts to bring them to justice.

West Yorkshire Police urged the public to report any concerns through their dedicated Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) portal. Support for victims is available via the When You Are Ready service.

Message to Survivors

The CPS and police reaffirm their pledge to seek justice for survivors of historic child sexual abuse. They encourage victims to come forward – no matter how long ago the crimes took place.
