Third Arrest Made in Bexhill Woman’s Fatal Stabbing

Police have arrested a third suspect following the shocking stabbing death of 58-year-old Rita Lambourne in Bexhill.

Tragic Night in Bayencourt South

Emergency teams rushed to Rita’s home just after 10pm on Wednesday, February 12, after reports of a stabbing. Sadly, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Family Pays Heartfelt Tribute

Rita’s family described her as “a much-loved member of the community, adored by family and friends.” They have asked for privacy during this heartbreaking time while urging anyone with information to come forward.

Three Suspects in Custody

  • A 39-year-old woman from Bexhill was first arrested on suspicion of murder but later released on conditional bail.
  • A 32-year-old Bexhill man was arrested for assisting an offender and also released on bail.
  • Most recently, a 48-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.

All three suspects were known to the victim, police confirmed.

Police Urge Witnesses to Speak Up

Detective Chief Inspector Alex Campbell said:

“We’re working around the clock to get to the bottom of this tragic case. Expect a strong police presence in Bayencourt South. If you were in the area between 8pm and 10pm on February 12, saw or heard anything unusual, no matter how small, please come forward. Your information could be the key to solving this.”

Dash Cam Footage Needed

Police are asking motorists with dash cam footage from the time of the incident to submit it via the Major Incident Public Portal at mipp.police.uk/operation/4719Z99-PO1.
