Police have cracked down on anti-social behaviour and nuisance vehicles in Houghton Regis and Dunstable, resulting in an arrest for drug driving and the seizure of five vehicles.
Operation Skytree Targets Nuisance Vehicles
More than 25 officers were deployed as part of Operation Skytree, an initiative aimed at disrupting offenders using e-bikes, scooters, and motorbikes. The operation included the use of:
- A police drone to track offenders
- Off-road motorcycles from the Rural Crime Action Team to access hard-to-reach areas
Key Arrests and Vehicle Seizures
- One individual was arrested for drug driving and possession of a Class B drug.
- Five vehicles were seized for traffic violations, including a stolen motorcycle involved in a police pursuit.
Police Response
PC Tom Sharp, leading Operation Skytree, reassured the public that police are taking strong action:
“We understand that this type of activity is quite worrying for local people, and we want to reassure them that we will take a harsh position against offenders.”
“This isn’t just a one-day operation, nor is it limited to this area. We will continue to pursue those making residents’ lives miserable, using a range of tactics to tackle this issue.”
The police are urging residents to report any information related to illegal vehicle use and anti-social behaviour in the area.
