Spider-Man Suspect’s Wild Wall Climb on London’s North Circular Ends in Police Drama

High-speed chase turns into rooftop scramble

In a jaw-dropping escape attempt, a suspect dressed head-to-toe in black sprinted along the frantic A406 North Circular near Chingford before scaling a towering 40-foot wall “like Spider-Man.” The drama unfolded at around 4.05pm on Wednesday, caught on camera by a passing driver. As police closed in, the man dashed along the busy dual-carriageway’s left lane, making a desperate bid to escape on foot.

Spider-Man style climb goes wrong

The suspect managed to scramble halfway up the massive wall before becoming trapped. Police quickly arrived on the scene, urging him down. A viral clip, hilariously set to Rascal Flatts’ “Life Is a Highway,” shows the tense standoff but cuts out before the climax.

Another video later emerged, capturing the chaotic conclusion. The man lost his grip and fell spectacularly onto an unsuspecting officer below. Police rushed to assist both the floundering suspect and their injured colleague, who appeared to suffer significant pain from the impact.

Arrest and aftermath

The Metropolitan Police confirmed the suspect was arrested on suspicion of driving offences and remains in custody. The injured officer was treated at the scene. The road was partially closed during the incident, causing delays for motorists.

Social media reacts: “Spider-Man’s got competition”

The daring climb quickly sparked online jokes comparing the suspect to the Marvel superhero. One user quipped: “Telling my kids this was Spider-Man.” Another added: “Must’ve missed this scene in Spider-Man.”

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “At around 16:05hrs on Wednesday, 12 March, police attempted to stop a vehicle on the A406 in Chingford. The vehicle failed to stop, leading to a pursuit. After stopping near Crooked Billet, the driver fled on foot, resulting in a fall from a wall. The suspect was arrested at the scene, and the road was partially closed during the incident.”
