Man in 20s Seriously Injured in XL Bully Attack in West Bromwich

A man in his 20s remains in hospital with serious injuries after a brutal dog attack involving an XL Bully in West Bromwich, West Midlands Police have confirmed.

Vicious Attack on Ripon Drive

Emergency services were scrambled to Ripon Drive on Friday afternoon following reports of a savage dog assault in a residential garden. Police and paramedics rushed to the scene where the victim was found in critical but stable condition. He was treated on-site before being rushed to hospital by ambulance.

XL Bully Tasered and Died at Scene

The dog involved, confirmed as an XL Bully — a breed banned under the Dangerous Dogs Act — was tasered by specialist dog unit officers and subsequently died at the scene. Police also seized two other dogs from a nearby property. These animals are now held in police kennels.

Suspect Arrested Over Possession of Banned Breed

On Monday, a 32-year-old man handed himself in and was arrested on suspicion of possessing a dog dangerously out of control and owning a banned breed. He remains in custody pending questioning.

Residents expressed shock at the heavy police and ambulance presence on Ripon Drive. Photos from the scene show multiple police vehicles and an ambulance parked on the street.

Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said:

“This was a frightening incident which left a man seriously injured. We are continuing to investigate and urge anyone with information to contact us as soon as possible.”

The attack adds to growing public concern over a recent spike in XL Bully dog attacks across the UK, sparking calls for tougher legislation and enforcement.
