Loft significantly damaged after fire at home in Barking

A home in Barking has suffered significant damage to its loft following a house fire early this morning, prompting an emergency response from the London Fire Brigade (LFB).

Fire crews were called to Kennedy Road at 7:52am after receiving reports of a fire at a two-storey terraced property. Upon arrival, firefighters found the upper part of the house ablaze, with flames spreading rapidly through the loft area.

Approximately 25 firefighters across four fire engines were dispatched to the scene, where they worked swiftly to bring the blaze under control.

Fire Under Control Within the Hour

The fire was successfully extinguished by 8:54am, after more than an hour of firefighting efforts. While no injuries have been reported, a significant portion of the loft was destroyed, and the home sustained further fire and smoke damage.

Photos from the scene show the visible impact of the blaze, with emergency responders working diligently to secure the area.

Cause Under Investigation

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, and an investigation is now underway.

A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said:

“Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a house fire on Kennedy Road in Barking this morning.
Firefighters attended a fire in a two-storey terraced house where a significant part of the loft was destroyed. The Brigade was called at 07:52 and the fire was under control by 08:54. The cause of the fire is under investigation.”
