Man Airlifted to Hospital with Serious Injuries After Crash on A2 Near Gravesend

A man in his 20s has been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries following a single-vehicle collision on the A2 London-bound near Gravesend in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The crash was reported just before 4:55am, prompting a rapid response from Kent Police and the South East Coast Ambulance Service. Emergency services arrived to find a man with severe injuries, who was later flown to a London hospital for urgent medical treatment. His next of kin have been informed.

A2 Closed in Both Directions for Several Hours

The incident caused major travel disruption, with both carriageways of the A2 closed for over five hours as police carried out investigations at the scene. The coastbound carriageway reopened at approximately 9:30am, but westbound traffic remains subject to diversions.

Police Appeal for Witnesses and Dashcam Footage

In a statement, a Kent Police spokesperson said:

“Kent Police was called just before 4.55am on Sunday 23 March 2025 to a report of a single-vehicle collision on the A2 London-bound near Gravesend.
Officers attended the scene alongside South East Coast Ambulance Service, where a man in his 20s was airlifted to a London hospital for treatment to serious injuries.
His next of kin are aware.”

Police are now urging witnesses and anyone with dashcam footage of the area around the time of the crash to come forward.

“Anyone with information is urged to contact 999 quoting reference 23-0205. Dashcam users are also encouraged to check their footage for anything relevant.”

Ongoing Traffic Disruption

Motorists are advised to plan alternative routes and expect residual delays, particularly on the westbound side where diversions remain in place.
