Huge blaze tears through Dagenham industrial estate – smoke visible for miles!

Massive Fire Engulfs Industrial Site

A massive fire erupted this afternoon at an industrial estate on Willoughby Drive, off Rainham Road South, Dagenham. Flames ripped through three containers, several vehicles, and piles of scrap metal, sending a giant plume of thick black smoke high into the sky – visible for miles around.

70 Firefighters Battle Inferno

The London Fire Brigade sprang into action around 2pm, dispatching some 70 firefighters from Dagenham, Barking, Wennington, Hornchurch, Romford and nearby stations. They raced to the scene to tackle the raging blaze.

Using a 32-metre turntable ladder, crews doused the fire from above, reaching the heart of the inferno swiftly. Their quick thinking also saved the day by removing two potentially explosive gas cylinders from the danger zone.

Thanks to their heroic efforts, the blaze was brought under control by around 4.20pm. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported.

Safety Warning and Road Closures

Station Commander Mel Anderson, at the scene, warned locals: “This was a very visible fire that created a huge amount of smoke.” He urged residents to keep windows and doors closed until the smoke clears.

He also advised motorists to avoid Rainham Road South due to ongoing road closures while emergency crews remained on-site.

Community Reacts & Investigation Underway

Local residents breathed a sigh of relief that no one was hurt. Many shared dramatic drone footage online showing the towering smoke cloud over the area.

Fire investigators are combing the site to find the cause of the blaze. Authorities are calling on anyone with information or video footage to come forward.
