A serving Metropolitan Police officer, PC Joseph Reece, has been charged with a string of serious sexual offences. The officer, who works with the Met’s Roads and Transport Policing Command, faces six counts of sexual assault and one count of voyeurism.
Sexual Offences Alleged to Have Happened Off-Duty
The charges involve three female victims, all over 18. The alleged offences reportedly took place while Reece was off-duty, between 2018 and 2022. He was formally charged on Tuesday, April 1, the Met has confirmed.
Key Dates in the Investigation
- May 25, 2023: Reece was first arrested on suspicion of sexual assault by touching, involving two women.
- October 30, 2023: He was arrested again, this time for voyeurism relating to a third woman.
- The voyeurism offence is alleged to have happened between 2020 and 2022.
Next Steps and Official Response
PC Reece is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Monday, April 28. He has been suspended from duty while the Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards conducts a thorough investigation.
“The officer remains suspended and a thorough investigation is ongoing. The Met is committed to holding officers to the highest professional standards,” said a Metropolitan Police spokesperson.
The force is fully cooperating with legal proceedings but has declined to comment further as the case progresses.
