A serving Metropolitan Police officer has been charged with multiple sexual offences and is due to appear in court next week, the Met has confirmed.
PC Joseph Reece, who is attached to the Met’s Roads and Transport Policing Command, was charged on Tuesday, April 1 with six counts of sexual assault and one count of voyeurism.
The charges relate to three alleged victims, all women over the age of 18, and reportedly occurred while Reece was off-duty between 2018 and 2022.
Reece is expected to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Monday, April 28. He has been suspended from duty, and the Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards has been informed.
Timeline of Allegations
- May 25, 2023: Reece was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault by touching, involving two women.
- October 30, 2023: He was further arrested on suspicion of voyeurism, relating to a third woman.
- The voyeurism offence is alleged to have occurred between 2020 and 2022.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said the allegations are being taken seriously and confirmed that the force is cooperating fully with the ongoing legal proceedings.
The officer remains suspended and a thorough investigation is ongoing. The Met is committed to holding officers to the highest professional standards.
As the legal process continues, the Met has declined to comment further.
