Massive Farmers’ Protest Shakes Whitehall with 10,000+ Crowds

Huge Turnout Causes Chaos in Heart of London

London’s Whitehall was brought to a standstill today as over 10,000 farmers and supporters rallied to voice their concerns. The Metropolitan Police confirmed the crowd stretched far beyond the Cenotaph, triggering significant road closures and traffic diversions. Despite the disruption, the protest remained peaceful throughout.

“The event is underway in Whitehall with no issues to report. Both lanes south of Horse Guards are closed. Diversions are in place—motorists should find alternative routes,” the Met Police announced.

Planned March Scrapped as Crowd Swells

Organisers initially planned to march to Parliament Square. However, the sheer size of the turnout forced a change of heart. The protest stayed put in Whitehall instead, with tractors adding a dramatic edge to the demonstration.

Tractor Trouble and Police Action

While most demonstrators complied with police directions, tension flared when some tractors broke through police barricades.

Driving over a police barrier line is not acceptable, and the drivers will be reported for the offence,” warned the Met Police.

As the event wound down, officers urged remaining protesters to move onto pavements to reopen roads safely.

Roads Reopen as Calm Returns

The area is now mostly back to normal, with all roads open except the southbound carriageway of Whitehall between Horse Guards and Parliament Square. This route will reopen once the protest stage is fully removed.

“The area around Parliament is now returning to normal. This will be the final update from today’s event,” the Met concluded.
