Swift Police Action Leads to Arrests

Thanet neighbourhood officers sprang into action after staff at a Broadstairs store spotted suspicious behaviour on April 24, 2025. The alert on Westwood Road led cops to quickly review CCTV footage and trace a suspect vehicle linked to the alleged theft.

The vehicle was stopped shortly after in a layby on the A249 near Sittingbourne, where officers launched a search.

Massive Haul of Stolen Goods Seized

Inside the car, police discovered an impressive stash of dodgy goods packed with potential evidence:

  • Clothing
  • Pet accessories
  • Hair products
  • Tools

Two men caught in the act were arrested on the spot and taken in for questioning.

Man Charged, Second Man Released on Bail

  • Darren Jarman, 44, from Bideford Road, Bromley, London, was charged with theft and going equipped to steal.
  • The second suspect, a 47-year-old from Minster-on-Sea, was released on bail pending further investigation.

Jarman appeared at Margate Magistrates’ Court on April 26, where he was remanded in custody. His next hearing is set for June 5 at Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court.

Police Praise Public Vigilance

The fast actions of neighbourhood officers have led to the successful recovery of a large quantity of suspected stolen property and the arrest of two individuals,” said a Kent Police spokesperson. “We continue to urge the public to report any suspicious behaviour to help us tackle theft and crime within our communities.”
