Manchester Driver Jailed for Killing 3-Year-Old Louisa Palmisano in Horrific Van Crash

A disqualified driver who caused the death of 3-year-old Louisa “Lulu” Palmisano has been jailed for 12 years following a tragic van crash in Manchester that left a city devastated and a family shattered.

Rawal Rehman, the man behind the wheel, was sentenced after being found guilty of causing death by dangerous driving. He was also disqualified from driving for 13 years and eight months and will be required to take an extended driving test before being allowed back on the roads.

 The Crash

The fatal collision occurred when Rehman ignored stop signs and recklessly drove through a junction, colliding with a tram. The force of the impact caused the van to veer onto the pavement, striking Lulu and her parents as they walked together.

Lulu suffered fatal injuries and was tragically pronounced dead despite the efforts of emergency responders.

Her parents were also injured in the crash, though they survived.

Justice Delivered

In sentencing, the judge condemned Rehman’s blatant disregard for road safety, particularly highlighting the fact that he was already banned from driving at the time of the incident.

“Your actions were not only dangerous, but criminally negligent. You robbed a family of their daughter and a community of a child full of life,” the judge said.

 Remembering Lulu

Little Lulu, as she was affectionately known, was described by family and friends as a “bright, happy, and loving child.” Floral tributes and teddy bears were left at the crash site in the days following the tragedy, and a local vigil drew hundreds in remembrance.

Rehman’s Driving Ban

In addition to the 12-year sentence, Rehman will not be allowed to drive for 13 years and 8 months, a period that includes his time in prison. He must pass a further driving test should he ever wish to regain a licence.
