Wiltshire biker Rob Best dies in horror A36 smash
A much-loved 62-year-old motorcyclist, Rob Best, has tragically died after a crash on the A36 near Knook on Saturday morning.

The fatal smash happened around 10.30am on 31 May 2025 when a car collided with three motorcycles riding together. Despite efforts from passersby and emergency teams, Rob Best died at the scene.
Adventurous spirit remembered
Rob, a devoted husband, father, and local scooter club member, was heading to Normandy with a friend for his next big trip. Wiltshire Police shared a tribute from his family praising his zest for life:
“Rob was loved and adored by all who knew him. He dedicated his life to being a good husband, father, son, brother and friend. He always sought the next adventure – whether it was going up the Empire State Building for his 60th or scuba diving in Mauritius.”
The family added, “His loss will leave a hole in our hearts that will never be filled. He had an impact on so many lives and will continue to live on in our memories.”

Wiltshire Police confirmed their probe into the collision is still underway, with no arrests made so far. The family thanked those who stopped to help at the scene. The A36 was closed for hours during crash investigations and scene clearance.
