Eurostar Horror: Passengers Trapped for Five Hours in Stifling Heat
Eurostar passengers on a London-bound service were left baking for more than five hours after a sudden power failure stranded the train between Lille and Calais. The nightmare unfolded on train 9117, which set off from Brussels heading to London St Pancras.
Scorching Conditions and Medical Emergencies
With no air conditioning, toilets out of order, and zero communication, passengers endured a sweltering wait. Reports confirm 123 patients and infants were on board, many overheating and growing increasingly anxious. Paramedics scrambled aboard to assist those who fell ill, but partly opened doors offered little relief and heightened safety concerns.
“People are overheating and anxious. This is not just an incident — there is no plan,” said a frustrated passenger.
Eurostar Offers Cash or Voucher Compensation
In response to the chaos, Eurostar pledged compensation for all affected travellers. Passengers can claim either a full cash refund or triple the ticket price in an e-voucher, aiming to soothe frayed nerves after the ordeal.
