A man has been left with life-changing injuries after being shot by police in Hollingbourne, Kent. The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) has launched a formal investigation into the incident.
Firearm Discharged During Police Response
The drama unfolded shortly before 9pm on Monday, 7 July, when Kent Police officers answered an emergency call in Hollingbourne. During the response, a firearm was discharged, seriously injuring a man. He was rushed to hospital and remains under treatment.
IOPC Confirm Independent Probe
An IOPC spokesperson said:
“We have begun an independent investigation after a man was shot and seriously injured by Kent Police, responding to an incident on Monday 7 July. We were notified by the force shortly after and declared an independent investigation. The man is in hospital with injuries thought to be life-changing. Our investigators are at the scene gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses. The investigation is in its very early stages.”
