Firearm Scare Sparks Taser Drama at Stratford DLR
Police scrambled to Stratford DLR station yesterday afternoon after a man claimed he was armed, triggering a massive emergency response.
Chaos on the Tracks
At around 4.20pm on Saturday, 23 August, the suspect confronted station staff, alleging he had a firearm. When officers arrived, he stormed onto the tracks and ignored multiple warnings to stay put for his own safety.
Officers had no choice but to deploy a Taser to subdue him. Emergency services, including the London Fire Brigade and paramedics, rushed to the scene to help bring the tense situation under control.
Man Hospitalised and Charged
The man was taken to hospital as a precaution. After being checked, he was arrested on suspicion of:
- Trespass
- Endangering the railway
- A public order offence
He remains in custody while investigations continue.
Service Chaos for Commuters
The incident caused temporary disruption to Stratford DLR services. Trains were halted during the standoff but resumed once the man was safely removed from the tracks.
