Party Brawl Turns Deadly: Man Stabbed in Shocking Canterbury Attack
A row over money exploded into violence at a party in Canterbury, leaving one man fighting for his life and the attacker locked up behind bars.
Knife Attack Stuns Cornwall Gardens Party
Liam Jones, 28, lost it at a gathering on Cornwall Gardens on the evening of 29 May 2025. When his friend said he couldn’t pay back cash owed, Jones snapped. He grabbed two knives and stabbed the victim four times. The brutal assault also included multiple punches to the head.
Despite being held captive briefly, the victim managed to escape and staggered into a nearby shop where paramedics were called. He was rushed to hospital with serious stab wounds to his arm and leg, along with severe head injuries.
Police Quick on the Case: Attacker Sentenced

On 19 September 2025, at Canterbury Crown Court, Jones pleaded guilty and was sentenced to five years behind bars. He will serve an extra three years on licence after release.

“The victim in this case was subject to a sustained attack and is lucky to be alive. He has been left with permanent scars, both emotionally and physically,” said Detective Constable Edward Cabot. “I hope Kent Police’s swift action in charging the perpetrator within 24 hours, and securing a lengthy sentence, brings some closure to the victim and allows him to move on.”
