Stalker Jailed After Haunting Ex with Death Threats and 134 Calls

Chilling Death Threats Spark Police Hunt

Sheffron Powell, 33, from Chislehurst, was locked up for two years and three months at the Old Bailey on September 24. Powell admitted to stalking his ex-partner and making terrifying threats to kill her and their children.

When his ex told him she had a new partner on June 8, Powell erupted. Just nine days later, he left a menacing voicemail warning he would “get a gun” and come to her house, prosecutor Sam Lubner revealed.

134 Harassing Calls and Threats to Kill

Powell didn’t stop there. Over the next few weeks, he flooded her phone with 134 calls, spewing threats like, “I will kill him, his baby and his children. I’m going to kill anyone who gets in my way.”

Sinister Warnings to Daughter and Home Invasion

The menace extended to his own daughter. He ominously told her, “Some guys will be round soon, something very dangerous will happen,” adding, “If daddy goes away for a very long time don’t hate me, daddy will kill this man.”

His stalking reached a terrifying peak when he broke into his ex’s home while she was out. Officers finally arrested him on July 10.

Victim Paralyzed by Fear

The victim described living in constant fear, too scared to even leave her house. She feared Powell would strike at any moment.

History of Harassment and Mental Health Defence

Powell’s file showed six past convictions, including harassment of the same victim. His lawyer Sophia Kerridge blamed his mental health struggles over the prior year.

“His children were very important to him. It is not an excuse but that was the straw that broke the camel’s back,” said Ms Kerridge.

Judge Philip Katz KC slammed Powell’s actions as “absolutely disgraceful” before sentencing him to prison.
