Woman dies after falling into the sea in Christchurch

A major Police operation was launched in Christchurch last night after a woman went missing. A Lifeboat and her crew  recovered the woman  from the sea after a two hour search involving Search and Rescue team and the Police Helicopter. But Police have revealed that sadly the woman died in hospital. Emergency services rushed to the scene at  Medford Quay just after 8pm on Thursday evening after being alerted to the missing 43 year old woman by her father. A number of police units at the scene carried out a search of the quay and surrounding area. The police helicopter was also launched, with RNLI crews and the coastguard tasked to search the water for the missing woman. Members of the Dorset Search and Rescue volunteer group were also called to help with the search.
