Two beautiful donkeys have been tragically killed in a hit-and-run crash late on Saturday night in the New Forest.

Silver Ford Mondeo speeds off after crash

The accident happened around 10.40pm on April 5th. The three and four-year-old jennies were struck by a silver Ford Mondeo. The vehicle was travelling from the Heath roundabout towards Beaulieu before speeding off towards the Exbury area, leaving the injured donkeys behind.

Owners offer £1,000 reward to catch callous driver

The devastated owners have now launched a reward of up to £1,000 for information leading to the driver’s arrest and prosecution.

“The donkeys belonged to my 4-year-old nephew and my 16-year-old son,” said Sarah Tangecroft-Napthing, speaking from her home in the New Forest. “My nephew saw these photos on my camera and said, ‘Naughty driver, makes me sad to see my donkey dead.’ My son is angry that yet again the driver hasn’t had the decency to come forward.”

One donkey, a grey jenny, died from internal injuries. The other, a brown jenny, suffered three broken legs and did not survive.

Police urge anyone with info to come forward

Anyone with information is urged to contact police on 101. Help bring justice for these innocent animals.
