Fire Breaks Out on Roof of Barclays Tower in Canary Wharf
Rooftop Blaze Sparks Major Fire Response
Fire crews rushed to a Barclays Bank tower in Canary Wharf this morning after an air conditioning unit caught fire on the 33-storey building’s roof. Around 60 firefighters tackled the blaze, which was visible for miles and sparked dozens of emergency calls.
Firefighters Contained Blaze Quickly
Station Manager Sandy, who was on the scene, said: “While the fire was very visible, it was contained to the air conditioning unit on the roof of a commercial tower block. There were no people involved and the fire did not spread beyond the roof area.”
Swift Action Stopped Fire Spreading
- Eight fire engines were deployed, including crews from Millwall and other nearby stations
- Fire Brigade received first call at 12:39 AM
- Fire was under control by 1:58 AM
The quick response ensured no injuries and minimal damage. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
