Detectives investigating the murder of a man in Battersea have named him as 40-year-old Tesfa Campbell as they continue to appeal for information Tesfa, from Croydon, was found with stab injuries on Latchmere Road, SW11, at around 2.45pm on Wednesday, 3 July. He was taken to hospital where he sadly died of his injuries at 7.40pm Detectives from the Met’s Homicide and Major Crime Command are investigating and are keen to hear from anyone who was in the vicinity at the time, particularly around Latchmere Leisure Centre. Detective Chief Inspector Simon Harding, leading the investigation, said: “At this stage we believe that the victim was walking down Burns Road with another man. As the two approached the junction with Latchmere Road, he was stabbed by the second man who then fled the scene on foot. “We are doing all we can to find out who is responsible for this murder and are appealing to anyone who may have any information, including any dashcam footage, to come forward. “This stabbing happened in broad daylight and we believe there are people out there who can help us establish the facts of the incident.” At this early stage there have been no arrests. Tefsa’s next of kin have been informed. A post-mortem examination will take place in due course. Chief Superintendent Sally Benatar from the South West Borough Command Unit said: “My thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who has died following this tragic incident, and also with the local community who will undoubtedly be shocked and saddened by this murder. An investigation is underway by a team of dedicated officers and I want to reassure residents of Battersea that we will leave no stone unturned in their search for whoever is responsible for this. “They will be supported by local neighbourhood officers and I would ask members of the community to speak to these officers if you have any information and concerns; the sooner we have that information, the more swiftly we can act upon it to address these issues.” Anyone with information that could assist police is asked to call 101 or tweet ref CAD 4856/3 July.
