Six Arrested and Three Knives Seized After Ashford Gang Brawl
Six suspects are in custody and three knives have been recovered following a fiery gang fight in Ashford town centre. Kent Police were called to County Square just after 1.30pm on Tuesday 4 February 2020 after reports of a violent clash between two groups.
Armed Groups Scatter After Violent Clash
Witnesses saw some of the gang members carrying weapons before they fled the scene. Luckily, no one was hurt in the melee. The National Police Air Service helped officers scour the area for suspects and evidence.
Suspects Known to Each Other
Police arrested a 26-year-old man, four 17-year-old boys, and an 18-year-old man, all from Ashford, on suspicion of affray. All of those detained are believed to be acquainted with each other, suggesting a planned confrontation rather than random violence.
Police Vow Tough Action to Keep Ashford Safe
Supt Simon Thompson said: “We take robust action against those involved in threatening behaviour and those who cause fear in our communities.”
