Gang Targets Delivery Driver in Bizarre Southampton Robbery Attempt
Police are hunting a gang who tried to rob a delivery driver in Southampton last Saturday evening. The brazen attack happened between 6.50pm and 7pm on 19 September in Warren Avenue.
7-8 Suspects on Bikes and in Car Surround Victim
A group of around 7-8 people, riding two motorbikes and travelling in a Black Kia Rio (registration HV59 MJJ), circled the victim at a roundabout. The Kia then reversed sharply into the delivery driver, knocking him and his moped over.
A heroic passer-by stepped in, forcing the gang to flee the scene in their vehicles. Luckily, the driver escaped without injury, but the moped suffered damage.
Stolen Kia Rio Linked to Incident
Police revealed the black Kia used in the incident was stolen five days earlier on 14 September. It was later found abandoned on 20 September in Coxford Road. Officers want to know where the car was kept during that time.
Police Seek Witnesses and CCTV Footage
Detectives are appealing to anyone who was near Warren Avenue on the evening of 19 September to come forward. They want to hear from anyone who saw suspicious activity or has CCTV or dashcam footage that could help.
Officers are also eager to identify a man caught on camera during the event. He concealed his face but wore eye-catching orange and grey gloves. If you recognise him, call police immediately.
