Pug’s Splash Turns Dangerous Near Larkfield
Kent Fire and Rescue Service raced to the River Medway near New Hythe Lane, Larkfield, after spotting a man and his dog trapped in the water. The mischievous pug, off the lead, took a leap from a 12ft high path into the river below.
Owner Plunges In, Then Gets Stuck
The quick-thinking owner dived in to save his beloved pug and managed to grab hold of him. But trouble struck when he couldn’t climb the steep river wall and found himself stranded alongside his pet, both clinging desperately to a metal pole.
Fire Crews Swing into Action
- A water safety unit and three fire engines arrived to mount the daring rescue.
- Crews lowered a rescue bag, slipping the pug inside and hoisting him safely to the top.
- A rescue sling was then sent down for the man, who was pulled out to safety without injury.
