Stolen Medal Found After 30 Years – Set to Be Returned!
Lost Masonic Medal Turns Up Decades Later
A prized masonic medal stolen over 30 years ago has finally been tracked down. The ‘Past Masters’ medal, issued in 1980, was taken from a briefcase stolen from a car on Sturry Road back in 1987.
Victim Spots Medal Online
The medal’s owner, 78-year-old Albert Marrable, had almost given up hope—until he spotted the medal for sale online earlier this year. The back of the medal is engraved with Mr Marrable’s name, confirming its identity.
Police Help Reunite Owner with Sentimental Keepsake
The east coast of Scotland sellers agreed to hand it over after Kent Police got involved. PC Alex Dyer of Canterbury’s Victim Based Crime Team is sending the medal back to Mr Marrable this week.
“Kent Police is committed to getting justice for victims whether the offence happened five minutes or four decades ago,” said PC Dyer.
“When I saw the item for sale online, I feared it may be sold on and I would lose it again. However, PC Dyer managed to trace the seller and I am very pleased to be reunited with it,” said Mr Marrable.
Though the original thief was never caught, the medal’s safe return is a victory for justice—and a heartwarming end to a long-lost story.
