Rail Worker Dies Injured By Machinery at Eastleigh Depot
British Transport Police have launched a probe after a tragic death at Eastleigh Railway Depot.
Fatal Incident at Eastleigh Depot
At 2:50pm on 30 November, officers were called to the depot following reports that a railway worker was injured while operating machinery. Paramedics rushed to the scene but, sadly, the 53-year-old man was pronounced dead on site.
His family have been informed and are receiving support.
Man Arrested and Released Under Investigation
A man in his forties was arrested at the scene and taken into police custody for questioning. He has since been released under investigation as inquiries continue.
Investigation Underway With Rail Authorities
Detectives are working with the Office of Rail and Road to uncover the full circumstances behind the death.
Detective Chief Inspector Paul Langley said: “This is a tragic incident and our deepest condolences go out to the family. They are being supported by specially trained officers.”
