Brutal London stabbing caught thanks to quick-thinking PCSOs
Ervin Negrobar launched an unprovoked knife attack on a man waiting to collect his wife in Ironmonger Row last December. The 37-year-old victim was stabbed in the shoulder and is still recovering from nerve damage.
PCSOs spot suspect just 20 minutes after stabbing
Police quickly circulated a description of the attacker. PCSOs Lauren Galloway and her colleague, on patrol nearby, suspected they had found Negrobar just 20 minutes after the 9pm assault. They struck up a casual chat to keep him nearby, followed him at a safe distance, and relayed his movements to armed officers.
Suspect caught red-handed with bloodied knife
Negrobar, 23, of no fixed address, was arrested carrying a bloodied knife tucked inside his waistband. He later admitted wounding and was sentenced to seven-and-a-half years behind bars last week (25 Feb).
Detective praises teamwork in swift arrest
“Much of the credit goes to Lauren and her colleague. They spotted him based on description and struck up a conversation to keep him in the vicinity for longer,” said Detective Constable Paul Deeley.
“They gave officers a running commentary and herded Negrobar into their path before he was arrested. It was a great team effort.”
“The victim was simply waiting to collect his wife when Negrobar started banging on the car windows and trying the doors. It’s unclear why. The victim got out to protect his wife and was stabbed just above the collarbone. He’s suffered nerve damage and is still recovering.”
