Carer Jailed for Preying on Vulnerable Elderly Victim

Susan Tyler, of Wansdyke Close, Frimley, has been slammed with a 40-week prison sentence for money laundering at Winchester Crown Court. The carer exploited her trusted position to defraud an elderly person she was meant to care for.

123 PayPal Transactions Reveal Fraud

Police uncovered evidence during a raid at Tyler’s home linking her to fraudulent activity. Over 12 months, Tyler made 123 PayPal payments from two accounts, all tied to stolen personal details of her victim. She used these to open accounts, buy goods, pay bills, and take out loans – all for her own gain.

Detective Slams “Cruel” Abuse of Trust

Detective Sergeant Marcus Mills said: “An offender has been brought to justice and handed a significant custodial sentence – after preying on a vulnerable and elderly victim. She abused her position of power in the cruellest of ways, showing little remorse for someone she had a duty to care for. This was a complex investigation that has ended positively.”

“The cost to Tyler’s victim has been traumatic, causing untold distress and worry. We’re pleased she’s no longer a threat to the Hampshire and Surrey communities.”

“This sentence reflects the severity of her crimes and sends a clear message: abuse of trust, especially against the vulnerable, will not be tolerated. We will always pursue justice and support victims who have been preyed upon.”
