Tragic Motorcycle Crash at Osmington Hill Claims Young Rider’s Life
Dorset Police were called to a serious collision involving a blue Yamaha motorcycle on the A353 Preston Road at Osmington Hill around 5pm on Tuesday, 4 May 2021. The rider, a man in his 20s from Poole, was riding as part of a group of four bikes.
Rider Pronounced Dead at Scene
Emergency services rushed to the scene, but sadly the young biker was pronounced dead at once. Dorset Police confirmed the tragic news and have informed his family, who are being supported during this difficult time.
Road closures were swiftly put in place to allow paramedics to attend and officers to investigate the crash site thoroughly.
Full Investigation Underway
Sergeant Rhys Griffiths of the traffic unit said:
“Our thoughts are with the family of the young man who sadly died at this extremely difficult time for them. We will be carrying out a full investigation to establish the circumstances of this collision.”
He added that the motorcyclists had ridden from Greenhill in Weymouth along Preston Beach Road before the fatal crash at Osmington Hill.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
The force urged anyone who witnessed the collision or caught it on dashcam to come forward. Sergeant Griffiths said:
“If you haven’t already spoken to police, please get in touch. We thank motorists for their patience during the road closures, which were essential for emergency response and scene examination.”
