Train Crash Horror in Salisbury: Wiltshire Police Speak Out
Wiltshire Police’s Deputy Chief Constable Paul Mills has issued a statement following the shocking rail collision in Fisherton Tunnel, Salisbury, on October 31.
Shock and Relief After Salisbury Rail Collision
“Thankfully, no lives were lost,” said Mills. “But the shock and distress for those onboard both trains – and their families – must have been immense.”
Investigation Underway as Police and Rail Experts Join Forces
British Transport Police are leading the inquiry into the crash. Wiltshire Police continue to support, with specialist officers and detectives on site working alongside the Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB) and the Office of Rail and Road to get to the bottom of how two trains collided.
Community Support and Police Praise
Road closures and cordons remain in place to keep the public safe and protect the investigation. Mills thanked the local community for their patience and kindness during a tough time. “It’s been heartening to see how people have rallied round over the last 24 hours.”
“Finally, I want to publicly thank our officers who were first on the scene for their professionalism, diligence, and courage in a very distressing situation.”
If you have any questions or concerns, Mills urges you to speak with officers at the scene.
