Three Men Jailed for Brutal Burglary on Disabled Pensioner
Three men have been locked up after violently ransacking a disabled pensioner’s home in Swanscombe. Amos Vincent, Amos Beaney, and William Dennard hatched a chilling plan in September 2021 that saw the victim restrained while her property was raided.
How the Attack Unfolded
Dennard drove the gang to the victim’s house on 17 September. Vincent and Beaney knocked on her door, falsely claiming a suspicious car outside was linked to a burglary. They gained entry by pretending to need a pen and paper. Then, Vincent suddenly shoved the vulnerable woman to the floor and held her so tightly she could barely breathe. Meanwhile, Beaney ransacked the property.
The pensioner, in her 70s, was left in agony and unable to move. She managed to crawl to a chair and call 999. Police found her handbag missing, which contained cash, bank cards, and other valuables.
Cops Catch the Crooks
CCTV footage revealed a suspicious van with Dennard driving. A witness spotted the van parked illegally near the victim’s home and saw two men acting nervous and pulling on gloves. Beaney, 31, of Wateringbury, and Dennard, 55, of Dartford, were arrested on 30 September. Vincent, 39, was caught on 11 October. Phone forensics confirmed all three had coordinated the attack.
Justice Served at Woolwich Crown Court
At Woolwich Crown Court, Beaney and Vincent pleaded guilty to burglary and robbery charges. Dennard admitted to burglary and a separate dangerous driving offence. On 10 March 2022, Vincent and Beaney were sentenced to six years behind bars. Dennard received four years.
PC Emma Laimbeer of the Chief Constable’s Crime Squad said: “The cowardly actions of Vincent, Beaney and Dennard were clearly premeditated and utterly despicable. They preyed on a vulnerable elderly woman, bringing terror to her home and causing long-term distress. We identified them early, and these sentences will hopefully bring some comfort to the victim.”
