Man Seriously Injured in Suspected Homophobic Attack at Liverpool Nightclub

Shock in Liverpool’s nightlife after a man was brutally assaulted at Superstar Boudoir nightclub on Stanley Street around 2am on Thursday, 20 January.

Suspect Flees Scene on Foot

The victim suffered serious injuries and was left deeply shaken. Police say the attack was likely homophobic and are treating it as a hate crime.

The suspect fled the club on foot immediately after the assault. Merseyside Police have now released images of a man they believe could be key to the investigation.

Police Demand Public’s Help to Catch Attacker

“To be attacked in this manner is utterly despicable, and we’re determined to find the person responsible,” said Detective Inspector Steven O’Neill.

“We will not stand by and let people be subject to such attacks because of who they are. We are determined to remove homophobia and transphobia from our communities.

“Everyone should be free to go out and enjoy themselves safely in Liverpool City Centre and beyond. We’ll do all we can to keep our streets free from violence and abuse.”

“If you recognise the man featured in these images or were at Superstar Boudoir or on Stanley Street around the time of the incident, please come forward.”

Witnesses Urged to Speak Up

The nightclub was busy during a birthday party when the assault happened. Police understand several people were present and are keen to hear from anyone with information, even months after the attack.

Anyone with details should contact Merseyside Police via their social media, call 101 quoting reference 22000045370, or report anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or through their online form.
